Using Jars to Display Flowers

I don’t know how long this has been in fashion, as my interest in wedding decor is only recent (for obvious reasons), but I am becoming besotted with flowers displayed in good old fashioned jars – the kind you would buy from the supermarket with spag-bol sauce in! Maybe it’s because I have been lately been drawn to rustic, Southern and Mid-West American wedding sites in which many seem to embrace the outdoors and nature, I have seen a lot of couples opting for this type of presentation. Displaying flowers in humble jars does seem to fit in with the relaxed country style of these weddings as simplicity seems to be at the heart of most of them.

As my wedding is on a budget (isn’t everybodies?), flowers weren’t really something I thought we would spend too much money on. Seems ironic considering I love my garden and plants and flowers bring me so much joy. I have never been one for over-the-top huge floral displays. Whilst I think they are beautiful in their own right and often created with much talent, my love of simplicity will always bring me back to the English country-side and it’s wild flowers. These seem to be most pleasing to me when displayed in glass jars. There is something very honest about it. I have dreams about picking fresh, wild flowers from the country-side with my fiance before the big day, in some wonderfully romantic field with the sun shining, butterflies… I am such a sap. Back to reality and this is probably illegal. I expect I will have to grow my own! Failing that, I could always use dried flowers.

I just love the eco-green side of displaying flowers this way too. Who wold have thought that recycling old jars could look so chic? I am starting my collection already…

Oh so many pictures, we are spoilt for choice. I wish I could post them all…
